Homamde Laundry Soap

I love playing with the scents of each new batch! I also like how long it lasts and how little it costs.

So here we go:

1.  I cut up little pieces of soap bars left lying around in the showers. Often, these little soap bars have also been home made. I put about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of little soap pieces into a big pot of boiling water.

2. I add scents into the water using different combinations of essential oils and I add a little Dr.Brommers too. You can make this laundry soap without Dr.Brommers, I have it so I use a little.

3. As the water boils I slowly add some washing soda and borax. Each I guesstimate about 1/2 cup. If you have more, the soap will become thicker, thinner with less. Ideally, in the end, the soap is the consistency of egg noodle soup.

4. Stir the mix, in boiling water for a few moments. Pour it all into the 5gallon bucket and then add two tea-pots full of hot water water. Stir some more. Add a big pot full of cold water, stir and let set.

It is that easy. If you find the next day that your soap is a more solid gel, then add another pot of hot water and stir, maybe even two. Play with it. It all washes no matter what.
